The trailer opens with a sepia-toned montage of CRT televisions, smoky video parlours, and posters of Bollywood blockbusters from the Shah Rukh-Salman-Aamir era. It instantly pulls viewers into a time capsule — when multiplexes were rare, and ‘original print’ was a phrase only known to a few. Munawar’s character, Raheel, emerges as the charming yet shrewd anti-hero who floods the streets with “first copies” of the latest films before they even hit theatres.
Faruqui, who rose to fame through his stand-up comedy and later reality TV appearances, surprises fans with his transformation into a dramatic lead. Sporting a rugged look with retro shades and sharp one-liners, his portrayal in First Copy is a far cry from the affable comic persona he’s known for.

The trailer teases high-stakes chases with the police, tense face-offs with rival gangs, and emotional moments as Raheel struggles with guilt, dreams of legitimacy, and the pressure of family expectations. At its heart, First Copy is not just a crime drama but a love letter to the early 2000s — complete with Nokia phones, Walkmans, and iconic Bollywood soundtracks playing in the background.
Directed by Himank Gaur and produced by OML, the series also stars Shruti Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, and Danish Sait in pivotal roles. With Faruqui’s natural charisma and the show’s tight editing and nostalgic flair, First Copy promises a binge-worthy blend of thrills and throwback vibes.
First Copy premieres on [platform name to be announced] this July. For fans of Munawar Faruqui and stories of the grey underbelly of urban India, this one’s worth a watch.
